This book brings together sixteen scholars and practitioners to reflect on the experience of non-violent action in the twintieth century and draw lessons for the future. A joint effort of the Institute of Gandhian Studies, Wardha and Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi, the book is another milestone in the efforts of the Institute to disseminate research and practitioner - experience to a wider audiance. This is perhaps one of the few works of its kind to be brought out from India and reflects our increasing interest and focus on non-violent conflict transformation. Edited by three experts in the field with a foreword written by none other than Shri Naraya Desai, the book, I am confident, will be of immense benefit to researchers of non-violent action as well as general readers.
